WELCOME TO THE GIA WEBSITE

Welcome to the website for the Glasgow Institute of Architects.

The GIA is pleased to announce the launch of the 2010 Annual Design Awards. These awards, now in their thirty-second year, are recognised at local and national level, and are one of the main highlights of the annual GIA programme. Once again, in addition to the main award categories - now including Sustainability - entries will be considered for the GIA Supreme Award. All entries will be featured on the GIA website. Winners will be announced at the Annual Members' Dinner at Oran Mor, Byres Road, Glasgow on Friday 12 November, 2010. Entry forms can be downloaded from www.gia.org.uk/Awards.

The judging of the annual Student Awards has now been completed. Details of the winners are listed under 2010 Student Awards heading in the 'GIA AWARDS' menu above. The presentation to the students will take place at the House for an Art Lover on 21 October 2010. Our congratulations are offered to all the winning students, and those who were commended.

This session's CPD Events Programme is being completed, and includes a day-trip to Scotland's Housing Expo on 18 August 2010. For further details visit www.eventelephant.com/giahousingexpovisit, where you will be able to book your place.

We are pleased to advise that Jordi Fauli, an architect from Barcelona, will be visiting Scotland in August, and has offered to talk to GIA members on his work on the naves of Sagrada Familia on Tuesday 24 August 2010. Further details will be posted in due course.

GIA would also like to draw members' attention to the Saltire Society's housing design awards shortlist featuring work by a number of GIA practices. For details, visit www.saltiresociety.org.uk.
